ABDIRISAK M ADEN

A skillful communications expert, Abdirisak has over 15 years' experience in communications, monitoring and evaluation, lobbying and public affairs projects in various roles. He has served as Senior Communication Adviser for the former President of Somalia and served as Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Information, Somalia. He's also served as a Project Director on setting up the press office for the Prime Minister's office. Abdirisak served as Project Director for a number of projects, including UNSOM's counter-piracy awareness campaign "Somali Anti-Piracy Information Centre (SAPIC)" in Somalia and Dadaab in Kenya. He's also steered monitoring and evaluation projects for different organizations, such as AMISOM, UNSOM, and UNICEF amongst others.
NAHASHON KARIUKI NJUGI

Nahashon has over ten years working experience including working in conflict prone areas both in Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan. His research skills include research project conceptualization, planning, budget development and management, coordinating enumeration teams for large-scale quantitative and/or qualitative data collection in conflict environments, conducting trainings of quantitative and qualitative methodologies, managing field teams in remote and hardship areas; field data collection, quantitative data coding, cleaning and report writing. A holder of a Master of Arts degree in Development Studies from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Community Development with a minor in communications from Daystar University, Nairobi. He also holds a Diploma in Peace and Security in Africa from Uppsala University, Sweden. Above all, his working experience spans from working in conflict prone areas both in Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan.
OSCAR KWENA OBONYO
Director, Media and Press Services
Oscar has a working experience in the communications sector spanning over two decades. During this period, he has undertaken major assignments across the region, including in Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, Tanzania and Kenya. His most recent posting was in Somalia, where he was attached to the African Union/United Nations Information Support Team (AU/UN-IST), as Deputy Head of Research & Media Monitoring Department. Previously, Oscar worked at the Standard Media Group (Kenya), as Senior Political Writer and Alternate News Editor. He is currently a commentator on political and security issues in Sunday Nation – East Africa’s widely circulated newspaper. An award-winning journalist, Oscar has bagged several trophies including the coveted CNN African Journalist of the Year Award (2004). He boasts of an International Relations background at Masters level and Political Science and Journalism at Bachelors’ Degree level – all from the University of Nairobi, Kenya.
